The National Weather Service has issued a Code Purple Air Quality alert for our region today, Friday, July 17 due to wildfires in Canada. Residents are strongly urged to avoid or significantly limit outdoor activities and remain indoors whenever possible. Extra precautions should be taken for children, older adults, people with respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and individuals with chronic health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes, as they are at greater risk of experiencing serious health effects from poor air quality.
