The 2040 Comprehensive Plan guides future growth and development of Prince William County and investments in public infrastructure. Its vision and policies shape quality of life and a sense of place for communities in the County.
Zoning implements the Comprehensive Plan by setting rules for how land is used and developed. The Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance Update is an effort to comprehensively modernize the County’s Zoning Ordinance and help implement the Comprehensive Plan’s vision and goals for the County’s future. The Prince William County Planning Office is leading this effort to develop recommendations for future adoption by the Board of County Supervisors.
